Short Bio

César Soto Valero is currently a Senior Data Scientist at SEB Group. He has experience building and maintaining AI/ML systems serving millions of customers in real-time. César earned a PhD in Computer Science from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where his research focused on developing novel low-level program analysis techniques to mitigate software bloat and improve the efficiency, security, and maintainability of large codebases. With a background spanning both academic research and industrial engineering, César bridges the gap between theory and practice by translating research breakthroughs into robust, production-grade software systems. He is passionate about engineering, AI, and the practical challenges of deploying scalable, reliable software solutions that serve real user needs.

César is a Senior Data Scientist with a strong background combining academic research and hands-on industry experience.

He’s been at the forefront of developing innovative data-driven and AI-powered solutions. This includes:

  • Data exploration & modeling: Explore and analyse complex datasets, design features and models, and translate business needs into practical analytical solutions.
  • Production & collaboration: Work closely with ML engineers to bring models into production while ensuring explainability and business relevance.
  • Expert support: Act as a subject matter expert in data investigations and support AI-driven decision-making across the organisation.

César holds a PhD in Computer Science from KTH, where his research focused on advanced program analysis techniques. After joining SEB as a Data Engineer in Financial Crime Prevention, he transitioned into a Data Scientist role.

He brings hands-on experience in:

  • Designing and operating real-time AI/ML systems.
  • Building solutions used by millions of SEB customers.
